When The Duchess of Cambridge left St Mary’s hospital in Paddington wearing a cornflower blue crêpe de chine dress by British designer, Jenny Packham, I’m curious who Jenny Packham is.
So, here the highlights of Jenny Packham biography and design work.
One of the UK’s most successful and independent fashion brands with global recognition, Jenny Packham has become the design house of choice when it comes to evening dressing and bridal wear.
Launched in 1988, Packham’s distinctive signature has contributed to revolutionise the bridal industry, introducing a contemporary approach to design and styling. The eponymous label now comprises ready-to-wear, resort, bridal, accessories and lingerie collections.
Jenny Packham has flaghip stores and showrooms in London, Paris and New York. The collections are available at the world’s most discerning stores: Harrods, Harvey Nichols, Neiman Marcus and Bergdorf Goodman.
Red carpets the world over are graced with Packham’s designs worn by the most iconic, talented and influential women of our generation including: Catherine Zeta Jones, Angelina Jolie, Amy Adams, Cameron Diaz, Kate Winslet, Diane Kruger, Dita von Teese, Kate Hudson, Oscar winner Adele Aitkins and The Duchess of Cambridge.
Victoria Beckham graces the August 2013 cover of Vogue China, which was shot by Josh Olins and sees the designer wearing Tiffany & Co. silver hooped earrings and a Nina Ricci Fall 2013 ensemble.
In the issue, she opens up about juggling motherhood and running her expanding fashion empire.
On juggling work and motherhood: “When you are successful the hardest thing is maintaining that level of success, so you work harder to maintain what you have achieved. It’s a huge juggling act, when you are a working mother and looking after your family, millions and millions of women around the world are doing this every day. But it’s not easy and yes, you feel guilty every time you walk out of the door to go to work.”
On seeing women wearing her dresses: “I have been in the limelight for over 20 years. I am not on an ego trip, empowering women and making them feel sexy and great when they wear my clothes means more than thousands of people clapping. Empowering women is what makes me feel good.”
